What are the Requirements to be a Water Watcher?

Water Watcher Standards

There are no standards for Water Watchers and we are not establishing standards with this program.  Everything on the website are suggestions and recommendations.

Suggested Water Watcher Requirements

  • Be at least 15 years old.  (Adults are preferred).
  • Is not under the influence of drugs or alcohol. 
  • Has the knowledge and skill to recognize an emergency and assist a victim in distress or can alert someone who can help.
  • Has a floating or reaching object that can be extended to a victim.
  • Has a working phone that can dial 911 or your local emergency phone number.

Suggested Additional Training

  • First Aid and CPR (including rescue breaths).  Hand only CPR is not sufficient for drowning victims.
